Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Landscape Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of vehicles and equipment, ranging from small engines to heavy machinery. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and executing timely repairs to minimize downtime and ensure fleet safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for hands-on work. You will play a critical role in keeping our operations running smoothly by ensuring our equipment is in top condition.

  • Small Engines: Lawn mowers, chainsaws, snow blowers, power tools, and other outdoor equipment.
  • Heavy Equipment: Skid steers, excavators, and other construction-related machinery.
  • Fleet Vehicles: Small and medium-duty trucks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles in the fleet, including trucks, vans, and other specialized vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues, including engine performance, brakes, electrical systems, and suspension.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and manuals.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake checks.
  • Repair or replace worn or damaged parts, including engines, transmissions, belts, and hoses.
  • Ensure all repairs meet company standards and safety regulations.
  • Maintain detailed service records for each vehicle, documenting inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Keep accurate inventory of parts and supplies, and order replacement parts as needed.
  • Coordinate with drivers and other departments to ensure minimal disruption to the fleet’s operations.
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed to avoid significant downtime.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Stay updated on the latest automotive technology, repair techniques, and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a mechanic, specializing in fleet maintenance, heavy equipment, and small engines.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Strong knowledge of engine mechanics, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
  • Experience with diagnostic software and tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and lifting heavy parts/equipment.

Requirements:

  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and self-driven.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Familiarity with equipment management programs and diagnostic software.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean RMV driving record.
  • Authorized to work full-time in the U.S.
  • Availability to work flexible hours based on seasonal demands and deadlines.
